Congratulations to Ronda Alexander '02 on her election to the MSEC Presidency! According to anonymous sources, MSEC may be reforming its budget appropriation procedures in the near future.

In other news, the guy from "Real Genius", starring a young Val Kilmer, but I mean the other guy (the main character), looks like a young Dr. Gershengorn.

What's happening this weekend: word on the street is that nothing is happening. Maybe something, but nobody told me about it. Bastards.

Link of the day: Medical Computing Today. This is a site with mostly articles about medical computing, as the name might suggest, but moreover, reviews of software in a more professional vein than the PathMAC reviews you might have read in the past. Medical Editor Dr. Marjorie Lazoff, MD regularly updates her reviews of internet resources, a list you should probably check out before you go and blindly look for web sites to help you on your PBL cases.

Finally, congratulations to Dorothy Wang '02 for finishing the AIDS Ride Boston-New York. She raised thousands of dollars towards AIDS treatment programs and can tell you more about her perilous journey through the wrath of Hurricane Floyd.

Hurricane Floyd appears to have sent the cGuide down for the count this morning, but we're up and running again. Thanks to Andy Engel, our fearless food editor, for notifying Henry about the problems.

In other news, if you see a Duke mug around the Ed.Center, please make sure to tell Rupa. And while you're at it, if you see any spare money lying around, feel free to toss it the way of the cGuide editors, so we can get some better features for this site (e.g. a voting system, better advertising and coupons for medical students, a bulletin board where you can post your own ads, comments etc.) For the time being, you can leave those sorts of things in our guestbook. You can Sign the Guestbook if you have something to say, and/or View the Guestbook if you're looking for something in particular, or just curious about others' comments. (Anonymous comments are welcome.)

Also, don't forget about the MSEC meeting on Tuesday night at 8pm in A-126. Even though the cGuide is not currently funded by MSEC, we're still big fans of them. Dinner will be served, Scott Lehto will probably be elected President, and all are invited to eat and watch. Please email any questions to msec@mail.med.cornell.edu.

Finally, Joseph DeVito seems intent on emailing all of the medical students everytime the "hoods in the 'S' Building will be shutdown." He is relentlessly persistent in reminding us, "Please do not use any hazardous materials in your experiments, while this emergency condition exists." Mr. DeVito takes second-place, however, to the perhaps even more irrelevant daily mass-email reminders that the Cerner Center System will Shutdown and then started up on an irregular basis. Coming soon: the cGuide teaches you to set up e-mail junk-mail filters on Eudora, and how to use Yahoo! email to check your email when you get those "Too many login sessions" error message on the Telnet/Pine version.

Woo hoo! Second-year quiz is done! Hey, some of you have been wondering what the deal is with the review of the "U.S. Open" as the #1 date place in our Restaurant Guide. Neville will explain it in due time. In the meantime, what's this scallopped white structure?

In other news, did you realize your photo is now probably online? Check out the Guild Website for Cornell Med. They've gone and put all our composite photos on the web page without our permission. Check out Henry's photo which makes him look like he was either assaulted or has a left-sided hemiplegia.

Oof. Sympathy to the second-years who got dogged with the Wednesday neurological diagnosis groups (right before the Thursday quiz), especially those of you traveling to Brooklyn and other points outside of Manhattan. Looks like you'll need to eat out that night. And, hey, guess what, we've updated the cGuide food section. Check out Neville and Andy's Restaurant Reviews. These guys eat out pretty much every day, so it's worth taking a look at what they have to say. They'll be updating it pretty regularly with their latest reviews, i.e. where they went for dinner last night.
